How to use lithium fire extinguishers

To use a lithium fire extinguisher, you should first remove the safety pin and tamper seal, standing back a safe distance from the flames. Aim the hose of the extinguisher at the battery or device and squeeze the handle to discharge the unit. Use the full contents of the unit and move to cover the whole device with the agent, creating a film that acts as a barrier to cool and cut off oxygen.

Lithium-ion battery fires can be extremely dangerous, so it's recommended that you leave putting these fires out to the emergency services unless it is blocking your only exit from a building.
